A scoping review on the influencing factors and development process of professional identity among nursing students and nurses

Professional identity (PI) is culturally shaped. It associated with a sufficient and stable workforce of professionals. China has relatively low ratio nursing professionals to its population. This scoping review aims obtain comprehensive knowledge the influencing factors PI development process among students nurses in China. A was conducted. The most common Chinese databases, National Knowledge Infrastructure Wanfang Data were searched for publications Chinese. databases EBSCOhost ProQuest Dissertation & Thesis Global (Full Text) English. After screening title abstract articles further assessing full text identified after initial screening, 53 included analysis. grouped into four dimensions: personal, family, institutional, social factors. tended negatively affect professional whereas three other dimensions exerted influence different directions. framework established based on levels career stages depict continuum dynamic nature process. shaped by multidimensional Changes policy should be made reverse profession stereotype being an assistant role medicine.
